Foundation Courses

Foundation is where you start if commercial real estate still reads like a foreign language. Two courses, no assumed background. CRE 101 walks you through the five asset classes (office, retail, industrial, multifamily, special purpose), who sits at the deal table, and the six steps a deal takes from listing to close, then hands you a real offering memorandum to pull apart in the capstone: rent roll, actual versus proforma rents, and the six questions you ask before making an offer. The Language of CRE teaches the vocabulary those people use at the table: NOI, cap rate, GRM, LTV, DSCR, cash-on-cash, gross versus net leases, CAM, and the due diligence words with money behind them. Between the two courses you get 14 modules, 62 written lessons, and 231 practice questions.

Neither course uses video. You read a lesson, answer questions on it, and move to the next one. That format works better than a lecture when you’re learning on your own clock, and it means you can search back through a lesson the second a broker drops a term you half-remember mid-call. Each course runs $49, self-paced, with 12 months of renewable access and a graded final exam that earns a certificate on completion.

Skip Foundation if you can already read an offering memorandum without flinching or you know what a T12 is on sight. Start here if you can’t, or if you’d rather lock the vocabulary down before you put real money behind a deal. Foundation feeds into the six property-type courses at the Beginner level, where you apply these fundamentals to one specific asset class at a time instead of the market as a whole.
